2015 Outback Bowl

I’m a little late in getting this posted.  Okay, maybe I’m more than a little late.  In any event, we made the trek to Florida after Christmas for the 2015 Outback Bowl.  The Belleville East Marching Lancers marched in the Outback Bowl Parade along with a dozen or so other high schools.  Then, they participated in the “Mass Band” performance at half time of the football game on New Year’s Day.  We and several parents provided logistical support for the band during all of the events.

In the end, the Marching Lancers took home a number of awards for their effort.  And, we all had a good trip.  Here are a few photos of our experience.

2013 Marching Lancers

It’s that time of year. School has started and the Marching Lancers are in full swing. Once again, Madison is a member of the color guard and our weekends are chocked full of football games and marching competitions.

This past weekend was the first competition of the season. Belleville East hosted a marching competition and competed in another. Carie was able to get some shots of Madison and the Marching Lancers during their exhibition performance at the Belleville Marching Competition.

Here are a few shots and a link to a few more.

The show is called “Transformations”. Note that Madison’s costume changes during the show:

Oh, and I even get in on the act. I volunteer with the crew to move the band to their events and help get their percussion gear onto the field.

2012 Marching Season Finale

As I’ve documented here, we’ve been involved in with the Marching Lancers through the fall and competition season.  This week, we performed at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis (where the St Louis Rams play) in the season finale.

Carie and Mackenzie were able to attend and she got some photos from the stands.  So this is probably the final update on the Marching Lancers season.

2012 Belleville East Marching Lancers – McKendree University Performance

As you’ve seen already this fall, Madison is participating as a member of the Color Guard for the Belleville East High School Marching Lancers.  We’re busy with parades, football games, and marching competitions.  (Who knew there was a marching band competition season?)

I’ve been pitching in as a member of the “crew”.  That’s a dozen or so dads who assist with transporting the gear from one location to the next.  This puts me in a position to get some up close photos and in this case shoot a little video, albeit from the backside of the field.

In this clip taken near the end of the field show, Madison is the 3rd flag from the left.  This was their class winning performance at the competition at McKendree University.

2012 Marching Lancers

Madison is preparing to enter her freshman year in High School and she’s a member of the color guard with the Belleville East Marching Lancers.  She’s really enjoyed it so far (she was on the color guard in middle school also).  They’ve spent the past 2 weeks in 95+ degree heat learning their field show for the upcoming football & marching band competition seasons.

Last night, was the parents performance to show off what they’ve learned over the past 2 weeks.  The show is still a work in progress, but they looked & sounded great.  Here are a few shots of Madison & the 2012 Marching Lancers. (additional photos in the Flickr photo set)
