I put these on Facebook, but I just realized that I’d neglected to post them on the blog. So better late than never, here are the girls performing their vocal solos. Each of them earned a “1st Superior” rating for their efforts.
It’s time for that twice annual post. It’s the one where I’ve just returned from Branson, MO and the Ozark Mountain Fiddler’s Assocation’s bi-annual Fiddler’s Convention. While I don’t play the fiddle or even attend the actual fiddle competition, I do play guitar and enjoy the old tyme and folk music played around the campground all weekend long. We take some of the music with us and enjoy playing in our own small group, but we also participate in round-the-clock jam sessions.
A friend of mine took this panoramic photo of the music circle just forming up late on Saturday night.
Lots of activities as school starts this fall. As usual, the girls are involved in the band & chorus. One of the events that occurs this time of year is the Wolfbranch baseball team playing at the Gateway Grizzlies Stadium (the minor league baseball team’s field). At that event, the band plays and that means both girls participate. This year, Madison auditioned to sing the national anthem and was selected to sing it with 2 of her good friends.
Well it’s lunch time on Monday, Labor Day 2011. That means we’ve just bid farewell to Carie’s brother, sister, & their families. It’s become a tradition for us for the past several years that we all gather at our house on Labor Day weekend, let the kids swim & play, eat BBQ, and enjoy time with family.
This year was no exception and we had a great time catching up with everyone and watching the kids play. It’s visits like these that make us realize how much we miss spending time with the cousins & Carie’s family.
